Update July / August

A lot has been happening lately. We found out last week that Polly needs to move back into the house so we will be moving in the next couple of months. We have decided to buy a house instead of renting so we can quit moving! It is a mind boggling experience but in the end it will be very good for us. I am both terrified and excited. We have never been sure we would be somewhere long enough to even consider buying before so this marks a huge moment in our lives. In the middle of this we are trying to get my back fixed. I did the physical therapy but after doing it for 2 months they took some x-rays and discovered it was actually doing more harm then good so they had me stop them. I have a very good Dr. in Reno and he gave me the options of surgery, cortisone injections, or an epidural, Surgery is a last resort for me since in most cases it doesn't stop the pain I already have but is designed to stop the pain from becoming worse and can cause other discs to be injured. Cortisone injections would help cushion the disc but my back is beyond that being an option. So of course we went to the epidural  idea which is just blocking the pain signal from going to my brain. I have to be careful not to do anything that can hurt my back worse but in the mean time I will have some relief! So yesterday I had them put that in. I made the mistake of not asking about the pain after they put it in! I got home and was in so much pain I thought they had done something seriously wrong and was going to go tho the hospital. Then Adam read the paper work they sent home and turns out that after 2 days the epidural starts to wok but in the meantime it INTENSIFIES the pain!!! It feels like labor pain in the whole lower half of my body without the breaks in between. to include the pressure. I am not sure I have ever felt this much pain but by tomorrow night I should feel wonderful.  They also injected steroids into the disc so it could help it heal some too.

Holy cow, woman! How long does that epidural last? I didn't know you were having that much trouble with your back like that. I hope you guys can find something that works.

And congrats on the house hunting!! That sounds like so much fun! (And crazy stress, of course, but the good kind!) I'm glad you guys finally get to be still for a while. :)
